Anyone in tech knows that being productive just isn’t enough. You need that ✨something✨.
I’d argue that ✨something✨ is creativity — and it will get you the results you want.
3 reasons why creativity is the new productivity 👇
#1: The AI revolution keeps telling us just that
The landscape is literally forcing humans to capitalize on their creativity right now, because machines are already more traditionally “productive” than us. McKinsey says 70% of jobs can be automated.
🤔 If a machine can do it, do we consider it high-value anymore? Nope, these previously high-paid, high-skilled jobs are now devalued.
As such, traditional measures of productivity are becoming obsolete. Instead, the spotlight is turning to creative thinking and innovation 🚀
#2: Creativity is a shortcut to explosive growth
Think about your favorite brand. It's not just a name; it's a whole vibe, right? That's creativity at work. It builds trust and tells a story, making you stand out in a crowd.
Pair a powerful brand with content marketing and you’ve got one heck of a growth strategy.
These days, all it takes is just one viral TikTok or LinkedIn post and boom! 💥 You’ve got results that playing the “long game” might not have brought you in years.
It means we’re finally starting to prioritize quality over quantity.
Machines can do quantity and churn out content, but humans are infinitely better at quality (crafting that one post, video, or idea that really hits home).
#3: Creativity works better for impact-driven causes
The environmental crisis is heavy stuff, and sometimes, all those scary stats make people zone out from the doom and gloom.
It takes creativity to spice it up a bit 🌶️
Art Lapinsch, writer of the newsletter Delphi Zero, said that climate change needs a 'F1 Drive to Survive' moment to fix its story problem.
(If you haven’t heard of it, 'F1 Drive to Survive' 🏎️ is a Netflix series that repopularized Formula 1 racing by focusing on the human stories, the drama, and the thrill behind the scenes.)
So, the climate space needs more:
🌎 Human stories that highlight the innovators, the community leaders, and the everyday heroes who are making a difference. This creates a connection that statistics alone cannot.
🌎 Drama and triumph to keep audiences hooked and hopeful.
🌎 Accessible science that can captivate and educate audiences, rather than isolate them or overcomplicate things.
Tip of the week
Nurture your creativity!
Carve out one hour on your calendar each week solely for creative exploration: sketch, write a poem, discover new tunes, take a mindful nature walk… Anything that is a departure from your daily grind.
The aim is to set your mind free and build more neural pathways for innovative thinking 🧠 It’s a strategic move towards enhancing your creative thinking capabilities, broadening your problem-solving toolkit, and potentially uncovering new passions that enrich your life ✨
