I have been thinking a lot about ambition lately.
Real ambition.
The kind founders carry.
The kind that wants to move the world in a better direction.
And something keeps showing up that feels honest and a little painful to admit.
I see founders with giant dreams lose momentum faster than they expect.
I see bright people push hard to start, then quietly drift away.
And I see myself in them, because I have done the same.
The ambition is there, but the mental load is heavier.
Too many decisions. Too much noise. Too many expectations.
The brain gets crowded and the spark gets buried.
And suddenly the thing that mattered so much yesterday feels almost impossible today.
For a long time, I thought this was laziness.
People call it lazy ambitious.
I do not believe that anymore.
It is not laziness.
It is overload.
The mind shuts down because it is tired, not because it is weak.
It is overloaded ambitious.
When I look back at moments when I stalled, it was never a lack of desire.
It was distraction.
It was being pulled into everything except the thing I cared about most.
It was losing the quiet inner focus that lets you insist and keep going.
And when I speak with founders, I see the same pattern.
Huge ambition.
Huge care for the world.
But the follow through slips. Not from lack of heart. From exhaustion.
Where does it come from?
Phones.
Notifications.
Meetings.
Hurrying up every hour of the day.
What hurts most is that sometimes I give people everything they need.
The tools. The frameworks. The contacts. The guides.
Now you are 12,000 founders and investors reading this newsletter.
I know your priorities. I know your calendar. I know the weight on your shoulders.
That is why I assembled the best tools I could dream of having myself.
All of it designed to save you time and move you forward.
It is right there.
And still the action often feels far away.
Because the mind is overloaded.
I know the feeling because I return to it every couple of months.
So I want to say something gently.
We cannot keep letting this quiet form of mental overload consume our potential.
It steals too many dreams that deserve a real chance.
It keeps founders and investors from stepping into what they are truly capable of.
Talking about it helps.
I invite you to do the same.
Let yourself feel a little vulnerable.
You will be surprised how many people around you feel exactly the same.
Honesty creates space.
And space brings focus back.
If any of this feels familiar, write “Me” in the comments.
Not as a confession.
More as a signal that you want to reconnect with what matters.
Others might reach out.
Maybe you support each other.
Maybe you become accountability partners.
Maybe you help each other clear the noise and take the steps that actually count.
In a world full of overload, this might be the real superpower.
Taking the right action and discarding the rest.
The ambition is still alive.
The tools are ready.
Now we need the courage to give ourselves a fair chance.
And please be gentle with yourself.
Q4 always feels like a vortex.
Everyone wants to wrap everything up before year end.
But this is a long game.
January starts another cycle.
Another chapter.
And you deserve to enter it with clarity, not guilt.

Thanks so much for bringing this up... I feel overwhelmed just thinking how overwhelmed I am (too many deadlines, wrap ups, follow ups, ...)
