Received a ton of great feedback for my Top 10 List of must-attend events in Europe last week 🇪🇺. Thought I would bring you my Top 10 List of must-attend events in the US 🇺🇸 (in chronological order, with my personal favs ⭐️):
1. MIT Energy Conference (Boston)
When: March 11-12th
A largely academic conference, they do a great job featuring a variety of keynote speakers from both the public and private sectors around the world. It’s a great place to network professionally and find out the newest on energy, but don’t expect the nightclub vibes of Slush!
2. SF Climate Week (San Francisco, California) ⭐️
When: April 21-27th
Although SF Climate Week is smaller than its counterpart in NY (see below), it's a must-attend for mingling with the best founder and investor minds in climate. And let's face it - the Bay Area is still birthing frontier ideas and remains the trendsetter in so many climate sectors as it has done across Tech for the last few decades (see My Pivotal Moment in VC).
3. US Climate Action Summit (Washington, D.C.)
When: April 22-28th
What I love about this summit is how they facilitate open and honest conversation. Through the open space itself, plenty of time between speakers, and curated small-group conversations, they do everything to ensure every person who joins is an active participant, not just an attendee.
4. World Ocean Week (New York City, NY)
When: June 2-8th
June 8th is World Oceans Day, and on June 7th a celebration will be held at the UN Headquarters in New York - but the celebration and events around NYC take place all week long! Counting down the days before you can celebrate? Take action every month with their 12 Months of Action challenge. They also have a photo competition - and who doesn’t love photos of weird ocean life?
5. Aspen Ideas (Aspen, CO)
When: June 23-29th
Beautiful location, beautiful people, all coming together to inspire. A festival for both professionals and creatives, this is a great place to have cool conversations that light the fire for your next big idea while enjoying the outdoors.
6. Hollywood Climate Summit (Los Angeles, California)
When: June 24-28th
Storytellers, this one’s for you. If you are into climate content creation, this is the place to be. There is no better community for entertainment and media professionals, artists, executives, climate organizations, and activists to collaborate, and you’re bound to see some famous faces.
7. SOSV Climate Tech Summit (Global) ⭐️
When: Fall (dates TBD)
This is an online event, no need to travel and anyone can attend. It’s a great opportunity to hear from some of the best founders and investors across both sides of the Atlantic at the same time, which doesn’t happen often.
8. New York Climate Week (New York City, NY) ⭐️
When: September 22-29th
NY Climate Week has turned into the global Mecca for Climate Tech. Pretty much all serious startups and investors in the US attend that week, and there are countless side events that take place. Can’t be there in person? There are plenty of hybrid and virtual events that are still worth attending to stay involved.
9. VERGE24 (San Jose, California) ⭐️
When: October 29-31st
Verge is always managing to create an awesome line-ups with the who’s who in US Climate Tech. Great panels and discussions, and a great place for start-ups.
10. CoMotion (Los Angeles, California)
When: November (dates TBD)
CoMotion brings together policymakers and public transport operators with big tech, start-ups, and technologists to make a difference in our cities and spur on the Mobility Revolution.
Conclusion
You know the drill - when it comes to events, it’s all about QUALITY connections over quantity. Make meaningful connections, and success will follow.
And if you haven’t checked it out already, here are My 10 Must-Attend Events in Europe 🇪🇺.
