I used to think of Substack as just another newsletter platform.
Now?
I genuinely believe it’s becoming one of the last real spaces on the internet.
Not for going viral.
Not for stunting for likes.
Not for algorithm-chasing.
But for actual, thoughtful, human conversation.
I’m not here to write bangers.
I’m here to share my creativity.
My internal questions.
My late-night rants.
My real-time research on what it means to build, invest, live, and lead better, especially in climate.
This platform has become my favorite tool to do that.
It’s where I get to think out loud.
And hear you think back.
But here’s the truth:
Most of you are still DMing me on Email or LinkedIn after reading these posts.
And I love that. I do.
But damn, if even half of those brilliant reactions, reflections, and disagreements were dropped as public comments on the post itself?
We’d be having the best climate + founder + investor debates on the internet.
Hands down.
So here’s my vision for this space:
No more agreeable echo chambers like LinkedIn (and 90% AI-generated by now…)
No more ragey hellholes like Twitter.
Substack can become something new:
A curated, intelligent room full of people who disagree beautifully.
I want to turn this space into a digital salon.
Like the best conference hallway chats, without the flights or fluff.
No "nice post."
No "🔥" reacts.
Just honest takes, debated with care and sharpness.
So here’s my ask:
Whenever a post hits you, whether it excites you or pisses you off,
drop a comment.
Question my assumptions.
Add a new angle.
Build on what’s shared.
Push the thinking forward.
I know who reads this. I see the subs.
We have incredible minds here, top-tier founders, investors, scientists, creatives.
Let’s not just scroll and nod quietly.
Let’s turn this thing into an actual conversation.
Also, I’m starting to lean into Substack Notes more.
That’s where I get a little more personal, spontaneous, unfiltered.
It’s where I share stuff that might not make it into a full post:
Thoughts on identity, creativity, burnout, growth, joy, purpose.
And some weird, fun stuff too.
It’s not just about climate.
It’s about being a whole human while trying to build something meaningful.
If that’s your vibe, come hang in the Notes section too.
Last thing:
I’m not trying to build a media empire here.
I’m trying to build a better corner of the internet.
A slower one.
A smarter one.
A more human one.
Thanks for being part of it.
Let’s make it real. Let’s make it count.
👇 Drop a comment. Join the convo. Let’s co-build this space. So that at least it doesn’t flop (might have 10k subs… I still have impostor syndrome 🙈)
Read some of my recent opinionated posts (and drop a comment):
Why AI took over the world and climate didn’t...
Burnout isn’t the price of impact...
Hey there. Received your post on another email so switched to this one which is the one my Substack is connected to. Been here for a few years so welcome, y’all! I left every social media platform in disgust, losing lots of contacts. But, you’re right; it wasn’t worth staying. I stayed on LI, but not getting much traction there, either. Which is fine. I’m not about the traction.
Still! I wanted to say THANKS for the engagement. Hope you hope over and read something of mine one day and say hello!
Thank you for that, Yoann. I was starting to wonder about LinkedIn myself... but really, the invitation to participate and the clarity of guidance here is actually helpful and motivating.
